Over the river and through the woods . . . (well not OVER the river, but alongside it!)
Pete's annual winter sleigh ride (I believe it will become a tradition) was a huge success. People started arriving around 2 p.m. to ride horses in the barn and go on sleigh rides in the snow. It was a cold day with a nippy breeze, but warm blankets and cheerful company kept the chill away. About 50 people came. Pete was so excited about the upcoming activity that he just kept inviting more and more to come join him and I guess there were quite a few looking for a fun family snow-day adventure. Pete's friends are very generous with their time and provided wonderful entertainment for all. Bryce Angell served up delicious chili, scones and hot chocolate and later he treated us to dutch oven apple and cherry cobblers for dessert. The food was served in the barn where a huge heating unit helped keep the cold out doors. And the bonfire in the snow was the perfect spot for warming up a bit after the sleigh rides.
Mark loved driving his team of small tough horses around the farm through the snow. Riding in the sleigh you felt every bump and I wondered a time or two if we might get 'upsought' (or whatever that word is in the Jingle Bells song). We went in and out of the pond a couple times. I'm amazed at how well that sleigh is holding up--good work David! And the cushions that Marilyn custom made were much needed and appreciated.
Another friend brought this sleigh on wheels which worked great on the roads.
I was having too much fun in the house holding and cuddling with Cole and didn't get outside soon enough to get many pictures. After everyone else left, Richard & Lorie & kids and Chris and Ryan & Cole stayed for ice cream and visiting. It was a great day! See you next year . . .

You should enter those in "Country Living", Arlene. They turned out great!
Looks and sounds like you all had so much fun! I agree with Lorie....you should enter them in "Country Living"!
