Fun with the Barrett Bunch

I had a wonderful week in Alaska with Aaron, Debbie, Tyler, Sadie and new little Pieper Lee Barrett. I arrived on Thursday afternoon, October 29, and looked after Tyler and Sadie the next day while Aaron took Debbie to the hospital to await the big event. I got a call later in the afternoon from Aaron telling me that Pieper had arrived safely and that all was well . . . in spite of some extra excitement (see Debbie's blog)!

Aaron took the kids to his mom's place where Amber watched them and then they spent the night there and Lynette looked after them on Saturday. I went with Aaron to the hospital to see Debbie and Pieper; Lynette was there, too. That was fun for both grandmas to be there together with their newest granddaughter. On Saturday afternoon Aaron brought the family back home; I spent most of the day cleaning and cooking and getting ready to welcome them. It was too cold and windy to take the kids out trunk-or-treating, so we put on our costumes and had a Halloween party at home.


Sadie put on her Tinkerbell costume and Tyler was Skinny Skeleton (I had told him the story Friday night and we fixed up a costume for him). I surprised the kids by putting on my Winnie the Pooh outfit. We made waffle cookies and took turns holding Pieper. Tyler loves taking photos with the camera and snapped a lot of pictures of his new little sister.

Tyler loved holding Pieper and even tried carrying her a couple of times--we held our breath. But he is a very loving and protective big brother. He makes sure Sadie doesn't get any germs on her!

By the time I was ready to leave the whole family was getting used to being a 5-some. What a cute family!

I loved sitting on the couch in the living room and looking into the kitchen--such a warm, inviting place. Loved being there.
